PERSONNEL MONITORING SERVICE

For personnel who work with radioactive materials and/or X-ray producing devices, CERT has dosimeter badges to monitor external exposure from ionising radiation.  A comprehensive range of personal radiation dosimeters is available to meet your dosimetry requirements. Wearing a personal radiation dosimeter is a regulatory requirement of the Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) for all radiation workers and it will also provide peace of mind for all staff who are involved in working with ionising radiation. It is a good means of monitoring working practice and ensuring that legal dose limits are not exceeded.

The dosimeters use thermo-luminescent technology based on Lithium Fluoride. This is a tissue equivalent material, so the dose received by the dosimeter is a true representation of the dose to the wearer. This type of material is able to store exposure data for a long period of time and so we can offer monitoring over one, two or three month wear periods. Longer wear periods mean an annual cost saving, without loss of dose information.

Our dosimeters measure accurately across a wide dose range, having the sensitivity to meet the very low detection levels required to assess doses as set out in the Nigeria Basic Ionising Radiations Regulations (NiBIRR). Pricing is prorated and is contingent on the number of dosimeters shipped at any one time.

Service Contract Agreements and Charges

Two types of service contract agreement can be entered into with clients as follows:

Type A:          Provision of TLD Badges, Reading and Reporting

Type B:           Reading and Reporting only for clients with badges of their own already

For the first type of service contract agreement, the charge is N1,000.00 per badge per month. A 10% discount may be given to clients using more than 60 badges and 20% for client exceeding 100 badges. Note that there is a surcharge of N10,000 for any lost badge

For Type B Agreement, N700.00 is charged per badge with the same discounts rates as for Type A Agreements. Charges are subject to annual review.

Clients are responsible for collection and transportation of badges to and from CERT.

Leak - Wipe Test Analysis Service

We carry out leak - wipe test. The price schedule below determines the cost of evaluation for the number of completed Leak - Wipe test at any one time.

LEAK - WIPE ANALYSIS PRICE SCHEDULE
Number of samples returned Cost per sample analysed
1-10 N5,000.00
11-20 N3,500.00
 21-30 N3,250.00
 31-50 N3,000.00

Computer generated certificates are issued to the client upon completion of analysis.  If the results exceed permissible levels for removable contamination on sealed sources, the client will be informed on what to do immediately by telephone.

CERT personnel are available to perform these tests at site if preferred.  Charges for this type are made according to distance from our laboratory and time involved and are subject to annual review.
